Did you know that you can climb atop the rocks?

Situated roughly about 3 kilometers from Agumbe on the way to Barkana is a small pond called Jogi Gundi. This pond is the origin of the river Malapahaari; which is a tributary of river Tunga. The water to the pond makes its way through a cave around 30-50 ft deep. The cave is like a natural water cooler and is carved by the flowing water for many years. The name for this pond is derived after a saint (Jogi) who used to meditate at this location.

Realized during the last visit that most first time visitors are not aware that they could climb atop the rocks where the water fall starts. It sure isn't a cake walk, but I have seen 9-10 year olds climbing up.

A few adventurous folks who can swim well also try dives from the top into the pond. The pond sure is deep enough for diving from such a height; but you better be sure that you can swim well before you try it out.

Hey! Yup there are two ways in which you can reach the top of the falls. One, you climb the rock face and two, take a small trek through the jungle to get to the top. Either ways it is fun. It surely is a nice spot, alas some picknickers leave it in a mess. took us about two hours to clean up the mess last time around.

Thanks for the efforts Kiran .... it indeed is a shame to see people littering these beautiful places. I have seen a lot of young groups like yours doing an awesome cleaning up job; in addition, ARRS too has been doing a tremendous job in preservation of the forest around.
